Where in the body is the complication located for Adams stoke syndrome?
This is a heart condition.
What will the client experience?
Sudden attacks of syncope & fainting: seizures may also be present.
What will the nurse see on the EKG/ECG
Asystole or ventricular arrhythmia
Is there adequate tissue perfusion during the attacks
There will be no tissue perfusion during the attack’s.
What is the treatment?
The client will need an internal pacemaker inserted during surgery.
What oral medications can be given after surgery?
Digoxin
Cllinical Priorities
1) This patient is a fall risk as they will temporarily lose consciousness due to the heart skipping beats. Remember to expect fainting.
2) Epinephrine is the medication used to treat ventricular standstill.
3) The cause of fainting is due to the lack of oxygen to the brain.
