2 pairs of disposable gloves 2 washbasins with warm water 2 disposable pads Soap Nail file/emery board Orange wood stick Paper towel Lotion Hand towel Washcloth Hamper/laundry basket Trash container

Gather your supplies and put them on a clean surface

Wash you hands
Step 4
Put on gloves
Step 5
Ensure the consumer is in proper body alignment and check their position
Step 6
Place both washbasins on a disposable pad on the floor at the consumers feet
Step 7
Ask the client to check the temperature of the water and adjust accordingly
What is first step for washing the foot?
Check the client’s foot, including between the toes and on the heel, for sores, bruising, blisters, or swelling
IMPORTANT: Report any changes in the consumer’s foot or skin breakdown
Step 2
Soak the foot for 5-10 minutes
Test tip: Say “I have soaked the client’s foot in warm water for 5-10 minutes” cover the entire surface of the foot
Step 3
Wet the washcloth and apply soap (make sure there in a lather with bubbles)
Step 4
Hold the client’s foot above the washbasin that you soaked the foot in and wash the foot and between the toes with the soapy washcloth
Step 5
Use the second washbasin to rinse all soap off the entire foot including between toes.
Step 6
Carefully pay the foot and between the toes dry
