Assessment 2 Flashcards
Two ways that the tawhid influences Muslims
One-way influences Muslims is the belief in the oneness of God. Only one garden now are they being is comparable to him this influences Muslims to be discouraged from worshipping other idols, like Mohammed and just respecting them.
Another way is to have faith in the belief is to have faith. Muslims believe that there is only one God, so his plan isnt fully known by any other being this influences muslims to belive in him and if anything happens, have faith because it’s God’s plan
Heaven and hell influences Muslims
Heaven influences Muslims to follow gods commandments and give to charity
Hell, influences Muslims to not too bad, did such as taking drugs and consuming alcohol. They believe they will be held accountable by Ali in the punishment of Deiters them from doing so.
The six articles of faith influence
One of the six articles of faith that influences muslims is the quran. The quran is the holiest book in islam as it is known to be gods word. This influences Muslims to follow the words from quran because this is the exact word from God and they should feel obliged to follow the rules in the Quran
The tawhid, influences Muslims to be discouraged by Wishman idols other than
God being omnipotent influences Muslims
One-way influences Muslims is to not make any images of God as this power cannot be depicted as any other being to perfect to be drawn
Influences Muslims to saywords like our God willing, as after making a promise, because ultimately, God is in control of everything that happens
Gods imminence influences Muslims
Influences Muslims to constantly act with goodness, as God is always watching
Influences Muslims to feel comfort in terms of darkness and stress believe that God is always with them to support/offer guidance if needed
Two reasons why Islam split
A one reason is because shia muslims believed that Ali should have exceeded Mohammed after he died. This is because they were blood related to Ali they were cousins, and she believed it was only right to have a blood relative.
Another reason they split is because sunni Muslims believe that Abubakar is the better leader of Islam as in the democracy it was in he was elected as leaders Sunni Muslims believe I was only right for him to lead as he voted
Explain to teachings about the nature of God
Omnipotent - “creator of all things so worship him” this quote means god is so powerful as he is the only being that has enough power to create the earth .
God is just. This means that god treats everyone equally and rewards the good and punishes the bad. He holds everyone accountable for their actions
Explain two beliefs about life after death
One belief is that angels come and ask questions on a muslims faith after they have died. If the angels questions are answered correctly, and in line with god’s wishes they will be rewarded most likely to go to heaven. However if they have not been answered correctly and gods wishes have not been fulfilled, they will be punished. This means if they have not lead a faithful life they will be held accountable for their actions .
Another belief about life after death is that on a day that allah decides, the world will be destroyed and every human that has ever lived, will raise from the dead and come before god and face judgement. In the quran it says,
“And every soul will be payed in full of its deed and allah knoweth best what they do”
In the quote means that allah will balance the good in their life aswell as the bad as he is omniscient and decide their fate
Explain two muslim teachings about the life of muhammad
One belief about the life of Muhammad is that he received a message on the night of power whilst praying. This night is described that ‘this night is better than a thousand months” Angel jibril visited him on mount hira when Muhammad was praying. Muhammad couldn’t read or write but he was able to recite the words of god which was a miracle in its self: Over the period of 22 years muhammads relavations were memorised and scribed to make up the quran which muslims use for guidence and faith.
some Muslim’s believe Muhammad spent time with prophets and prayed, this is often referred to as the Night Journey. This happened at a difficult time in Muhammad’s life after the loss of his wife. The night journey gave Muhammad strength to continue his duty and later led to him achieving a large Muslim following after much conflict. This is important to many Muslim’s today as they recognise that with faith they too will be guided to achieve God’s will.
Explain two beliefs predestination
5
One teaching about predestination in sunni silam is that God has already determined everything that will happen in the universe. God has already written down everything that will happen in a ‘book of decrees’, and people have limited freedom to change their future
Another teaching about predestination in shia islam is that God knows everything that will happen, but hasn’t already decided what will happen. Because God is outside time, he already knows everything that will happen, but people can still make their own choices
This teaching is supported by Surah 13:11 in the Qur’an: ‘God does not change the condition of people… unless they change what is in themselves.’

AGREE
- prophets lived a mortal life so some muslims would argue that it is easier to follow their example so are better role models. For example Adam throughout his life made mistakes but was eventually forgiven by God as he recognised his wrong doings and made up for it out of his own freewill.
- ibriham is a better example as he is a human and was obedient to god. “God saw Abraham as a friend” after ibrahim discouraged people from worshiping idols. Ibriham obeyed gods commands out of his own free will and was rewarded for it. Prophets are better role models as they have consciously chosen to follow gods commands and his religion whereas angels do not get a choice.
DISAGREE
- angels dont commit sins whereas adam did so some would argue that angels are better role models as they should aim to constantly be good and by aspriring towards angels, they could not go wrong.
- “praise be to god creator of heaven and earth who have made angels”
Muslims would argue angels make better role models as god has created them himself. God has created the angels with all of the ideal qualities and for specific reasons. Muslims would look up to gods messangers as they are a guide made for muslims to follow and have come directly from god.
