Procedure

-Participants were told that they were taking part of a vision test, and were told that they had two equal lines on two separate cards
-With the participant were 6 actors who were told to answer incorrectly for 12 out of the 18 trials a participant took part of, with the participant always answering next to last
-there was a control condition where it was just the participant by themselves doing the same task

-75% of the participants had conformed at least once, 25% of the participants never conformed
-in the control condition less than 1% of the participants had answered incorrectly
-when asked why they conformed, they answered that they though their answer was wrong, that they were unsure of their response and that they didnt want to stick out of the group.
