A

Henry had had him arrested at the start of his reign - some Yorkists believed that he was dead whilst others believed he may have escaped and was in hiding.

  • Margaret of Burgundy recognised Simnel as her nephew and paid for 2000 mercanaries to support Simnel also.
  • Also supported by Gerald Fitzgerald, Earl of Kildare in Ireland, who crowned him Edward VI in Dublin Cathedral.
