What was Henry VII’s main character attributes?
Positive :
* Respected,
* Effecient,
* Intelligent,
* Shrewd,
* Learnt from exile to be frugal and cautious
* Trusted few outside a small group of advisors.
Negative :
* His caution made him unpopular, it was extremely difficult to advace in court and Henry’s financial policies were widly disliked.

What were some of the immediate threats to Henry VII’s position?
- He was a usurper and hadn’t taken the throne through inheritence, (he himself therefore understood the threat of usurpers).
- He virtually had no discernable claim to the throne - he was descending though his maternal side of Lady Margaret Beaufort but the Beauforts had been made illegitemate by Richard III
- The War of the Roses was still ongoing and many Yorkists were upset that a Yorkish King had been usurped.
- He had been in exile since he was 14 and many felt as though he was a foreigner who didn’t understand the English Courts.

How was Lord Thomas Stanley significant to Henry VII’s consolidation of power?
Lord Thomas Stanley’s intervention in the Battle of Bosworth won Henry the battle. He was rewarded with the title of ‘Earl of Derby’, Derby was key to the exercise of royal power in the Northwest and Wales during Henry VII’s reign.
