What is the meaning of discretion?
Freedom of choice to decide and choose, selecting the best course of action having recognised and considered all the alternatives
What are the three types of arrests?
Arrest with a warrant, arrest without a warrant and common law
What is the mnemonic ID COP PLAN used to identify?
The arrest conditions identified in Code G
What does ID COP PLAN enusre?
That the arrest is necessary in line with the code G of the codes of practice
When is a caution + 3 used?
When someone is not under arrest but you invite them to interview via an appointment
What are the two elements to making an arrest?
You suspect/know the person is involved or has committed a criminal offence and the arrest is necessary
