What are the common examination findings?
May be SAD - Syncope/Angina/Chest pain
TRIAD - Slow rising pulse/Narrow pulse pressure/ESM which may radiate to the carotids
Palpable heave and thrill
What are the investigations?
To finish the exam i would like to - Fundoscopy, respiratory exam, and Peripheral arterial exam,urinalysis and BP
By the bed - History and obs.
Bloods - FBC, U/E, TFTs
Other - ECG, ECHO to assess severity
CXR
What are the key investigation findings?
Echo may show gradient over 55
Stroke volume may be reduced
What is the treatment?
Conservative - Explain to the patient
Medical - monitoring
Surgical - Valvular replacement
What are the risk factors?
Age and calcification
Bicuspid valve
Rheumatic fever
