What are the common examination findings?
Key - Collapsing pulse and early diastolic murmur
Visible heave
Displaced apex beat
NB - Marfans so arachnodactyly/Ank spon
Corrigans sign
What are the investigations?
To finish the exam i would like to - Fundoscopy, respiratory exam, and Peripheral arterial exam,urinalysis and BP
By the bed - History and obs.
Bloods - FBC, U/E, TFTs
Other - ECG, ECHO to assess severity
CXR
What are the key investigation findings?
Echo will show valve
What is the treatment?
Conservative - Explain to the patient
Medical - Diuretics and ACEI
Surgical - Valve repair
What are the risk factors?
Marfans
Ank Spon
Rheumatoid
Infective endocarditis
Rheumatic fever
