If there IS growth in all the wells, what do you report?
Less than OR equal to smallest value tested, susceptible
What is the purpose of the ESBL test?
Detect presence of extended spectrum beta lactamase enzymes
What are the 4 disks used in the ESBL test?
Cefotaxime, cefotazime + clavelanic acid, Ceftazidime, Ceftazidime +clavelanic acid
What zone size indicates a positive result in ESBL?
greater than or EQUAL to 5mm
What is the purpose of the D-test?
To detect inducible resistance to clindamycin
What are the two disks used in the D-test?
Clindamycin and Erythromycin
What is a positive D-test?
ādā around the Clindamycin (CC) disk
What is the purpose of the cefoxitin screen?
See if isolate produces the meCA gene (MRSA or MSSA)
What is a positive cefoxitin?
Less than OR equal to 21mm
What is a negative cefoxitin?
Greater than or equal to 22mm
What is the purpose of the Hodge test?
To detect presence of carbapenmases
What does CRE stand for?
Carbapenem Resistance
What organism is streaked all over Hodge plate?
e. coli
What disk is placed in the middle of the Hodge test?
meropenem disk
