What did human paleontology begin with?
the first hominids (first primates standing on two legs)
What were the first hominids?
Australopithecines, originated in Africa
What is ostenology?
The study of the human skeleton
What is parodic hyperstosis caused by?
Iron deficiency and malnutrition. Weakens the bones.
What are Harris lines?
Lines found on the arm and leg bones. Signs of arrested development and growth stunting. Chronically malnourished are most at risk
What is anthropometry?
The study of human weights and measurements
What does a barrel chest allow for?
Larger lungs and a larger heart to pump more blood
What is archaeology?
Study of human cultural remains
What are examples of archaeology?
Neanderthals
