What does category 1 ABPs include? (3 main criteria)
SRM
Residues of environmental contaminants
All body parts (including hides/skin) of experimental animals, wild animals suspected of disease, pets/zoo/circus animals or suspected of having TSE
What is the SRM for cattle of all ages?
Tonsils
Intestines, rectum and mesentery
What is the SRM for cattle >12 months old?
Skull excluding mandible
CNS (including eyes)
(+ tonsils, intestines, rectum and mesentery)
What is the SRM for cattle over 30 months old?
Vertebral column (including dorsal root ganglion) (+ tonsils, intestines, rectum, mesentery)
What is the SRM for sheep less than 12 months old?
None
What is the SRM for sheep over 12 months old or with permanent incisors erupted?
CNS:
Skull with brain
Eyes
Spinal cord
What are classed as category 2 ABPs?
Meat unfit for human consumption
Manure and GI contents
Residues of veterinary drugs and contaminants
Animals that die other than being slaughtered
What are category 3 ABPs?
Meat fit but not intended for human consumption
All ABPs from animals under inspection that have been found fit with some exceptions
Raw milk, blood, bones etc
Which category of ABPs is used to make pet food?
Category 3
Which categories of ABPs are used for maggot farms and zoos?
Category 2
Category 3
Which categories of ABPs may be incinerated, go to special landfills or derogations for remote areas?
