- general anesthesia
- rapid onset / elimination
- nonirritating to airway
- good for pediatrics

- indication: induction / maintenance of moderate sedation

succinylcholine

- depolarizing neurotransmitter blocker
- similar structure to ACh, but metabolized more slowly
- indication: ET intubation
- *injection only

midazolam (benzodiazepine)
A
- pre-operatively; moderate sedation
- causes: amnesia / reduces anxiety

fentanyl / morphine (opiates)
A
- fentanyl = 100x more potent than morphine
- injection = most common for perioperative
- oral / transdermal patch = chronic pain
- be careful w/ patches – lead to easy OD and death
