Anemia meds
Procrit 5,000 units three times a week
Ferrous sulfate 325mg three times a day
Labs
Hemoglobin: 9.4 g/dL
Tsat: 12%
Ferritin 75 ng/mL
What are the laboratory goals?
10-11 for hemoglobin
greater than 20% for TSAT
greater than 200 for ferritin
Target hemoglobin in patients with Anemia in CKD is lower than in the general population
Iron Therapy
____________should be used in patients on HD (hemodialysis )or with more severe deficiencies
Iron dextran is not preferred
