The external
The internal goes straight into the base of the skull then branches when in the skull
At what level does the common carotid bifurcate into the internal and external?
At the level of the upper border of the thyroid cartilage - where Adams apple is
How do you test the accessory nerve?
Ask patient to turn head to the side with resistance against it.
Ask patient to shrug shoulders with resistance against them
How do you test for the hypoglossal nerve?
Ask patient to stick tongue out and lick both corners of the mouth.
What is the brachiocephalic trunk? What side is it on?
