Penis
External, male reproductive organ which is composed of long shaft and bulbous end.
Testicles or Testes
External, male reproductive organ contained within the scrotum. Analogous to the female ovaries.
Circumcision
A cosmetic/elective procedure which is the removal of the foreskin of the penis.
Scrotum
Pouch of skin that contains the testes, nerves, and blood vessels. Descends from the base of the penis and is needed to support testicles.
Sperm
Analogous to the female ova.
Epididymis
Stores and nurtures sperm until they are passed into the vas deferens.
Vas Deferens
A tubule that is about 30cm long, extending from the testicle into the pelvis, and ending at the ejaculatory duct.
Semen
Fluid component that supports sperm cells.
Uterus
The “Womb”
Ovaries
Produce several important hormones and the ova. Analogous to the male testes.
Ova
Analogous to the male sperm.
Fallopian Tube
The pathway for the ovum to travel to the uterus.
Fertilization
The combination of the ovum and sperm within the fallopian tube.
Zygote
The product of fertilization.
Cervix
Lower opening in the uterus, which connects the uterus to the vagina.
