Anatomy - Kaplan Flashcards
Layers of the anterior abdominal wall
Skin Camper (fat) fascia Scarpa (fibrous) fascia EOM IOM TAM Transversalis fascia Parietal peritoneum
Abdomen…is the aorta on the R or L of the IVC?
LEFT
Innervation AND end organ for the…
- Ciliary ganglion
- Pterygopalatine ganglion
- Sphenopalatine ganglion
- Otic ganglion
What are these?
Ciliary = CN3 (sphincter pupillae, ciliary m) Pterygopalatine = CN 7 (lacrimal gland) Sphenopalatine = CN 7 (submandibular and sublingual glands) Otic = CN 9 (parotid gland)
PARASYMPATHETICS
Carotid baroreceptor afferent
Aortic baroreceptor afferent
CN 9
CN 10
Functions of CN 9
- Afferents for carotid baroreceptor and carotid chemoreceptor (carotid body)
- Efferent for stylopharyngeus
- Somatic sensory afferent for posterior pharynx, eustachian tube, middle ear, posterior 1/3 of tongue
- Taste from posterior 1/3 of tongue
- Parasympathetic to otic ganglion (parotid gland)
Arterial supply to the bladder (superior and inferior)
Superior vesicle arteries (via umbilical a via internal iliac a)
Inferior vesicle arteries (via internal iliac aa directly)
Internal rotation of the arm…what muscle?
Innervation?
Subscapularis
Upper and lower subscapular nn
Patient faints during ear exam…why?
Posterior wall of external ear canal has innervation from auricular branch of vagus nerve
Bulging of the superior cerebellar artery may cause deficit in which nerve?
CN 3 (comes out above the pons between the PCA and the superior cerebellar artery)
Cerebellopontine angle…nerves?
Posterior olivary sulcus…nerves?
VII, VII
IX, X
Hypothalamus…
- Lateral area
- Ventromedial area
- Anterior
- Posterior
- Suprachiasmatic
- Supraoptic
- Paraventricular
Lateral = Hunger (ghrelin stim, leptin inhib) VM = Satiety (leptin stim) Anterior = Cooling, PSNS Posterior = Heating, SNS Suprachias = Circadian rhythm Supraoptic = ADH Paravent = Oxytocin
Thalamus…
- VPL
- VPM
- LG
- MG
- VL
VPL = STT, ML VPM = TL, Gustatory LG = Vision (via CN2) MG = Hearing (via superior olive, inf. colliculus) VL = Motor (via basal ganglia, cerebellum)
