Anaesthetic considerations for patients with childhood cancer

A
  • Mediastinal mass- causing airway collapse, superior vena cava syndrome, Horner’s syndrome
  • Raised ICP- headaches, irritability, N&V
  • Deranged electrolytes- tumour lysis syndrome (AVOID DEX)
  • Coagulopathy
  • Thrombocytopaenia
  • Neutropenia
  • Anaemia
  • Chemotherapy-related cardiomyopathy
  • Chemotherapy-related malnutrition
