A

A compromise between the freed and the planters. Would grow sugar but would been paid by the fruits of their labour not in money. Would work 9 hour days and have saturday off

A

Most workers didn’t show up to complete their full hours. He imposed strict rules on those that wouldn’t comply with the system and banned certain activities.

Why did many republicans dislike Napoleon 3rd

A

He was seen as the enemy of republicans and a despotic power, aiming to reverse many of the progressive policies that had been implemented. Reversed much of the emancipation such as removing 3 million people’s vote.

Who were Subtil, Bodichon and Perinnon?

A

Subtil was the man who tried to import thousands of slaves into Algeria. Bodichon was the man who became increasingly racist drawing divisions between French and Arabs leading to scientific racism. Perinnon was the governor of Martinique who aimed to make the colony profitable whilst being an abolitionist.
