How are amides formed?
A
The condensation reaction of Carboxylic acids or acyl chlorides with ammonia or amines.

How do name a primary amide?
A
Add amide to the stem name. Eg, Ethanamide

How is a secondary amide named?
A
The alkyl chain attached to the nitrogen is added to the start of the name. Prefixed with N-
E.G, N- Propylethanamide

Naming tertiary amides?
A
Same concept as the secondary amides, but order the alkyl chains alphabetically. If needed di- can be added.
eg, N-methyl-N-Propylethanamide
