Where is the Canadian Shield?
The Canadian Shield covers a significant portion of Canada and Northern United States. It is centered on Hudson Bay and extends over eastern, central, and northwestern Canada, the Canadian Arctic and Greenland, the Great Lakes Region, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and New York.
What is the St. Lawrence River?
Beginning in Northern Quebec and ending at Lake Superior, it is home to 1,000 islands. It has high granite walls and is use for shipping.
How were the great lakes formed?
Eerie, Huron, Michigan, Ontario, and Superior were formed by glaciers in the Canadian Shield.
What geographical features are found in the Eastern Region?
It includes the Appalachian Mountains, Atlantic Coastal Plain, Niagara Falls, and Adirondack Mountains (NY).
What mountains are found in the Appalachian Mountains?
It includes Great Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Mountains, and Stone Mountain.
Where is the Atlantic Coastal Plain?
The Atlantic Coastal Plain stretches from Massachusetts to the Florida Keys.
What are the everglades?
The everglades begin in Central Florida and empty into the Florida Bay. It is known as the river of grass.
What region contains the largest biome and river system in North America?
The Great Plains. Its grassland is the largest biome in North America. It includes Mississippi-Missouri river system, the largest in North America.
What 2 things are the Badlands known for?
1) Famous for Buttes and Spires.
2) Near Mt. Rushmore.
What are the Black Hills?
Mountains found in SD and WY. They are called black because the trees made them look dark from a distance. This area belonged to Lakota but America took it back when they found gold.
What landmarks are found in the Great Basin?
Great Salt Lake, Colorado River, and Grand Canyon.
What is the largest Mountain Range in Western North America?
The Rockies
What geographical features are found in the Eastern Region of North America?
Mountains, river systems, and wetlands.
Where do the Appalachian Mountains extend to and from?
Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada to Central Alabama.
