All things Brachial Flashcards
What muscles does the brachial plexus emerge from?
Exit the next between the scalenus anterior and the scalenus medius
What are the direct nerve branches from the rami?
dorsal scapular nerve and the long thoracic nerve
What does the dorsal scapular nerve innervate?
rhomboid and levator scapulae muscles
What does the long thoracic nerve innervate?
serrates anterior
What are the direct nerve branches from the trunk?
Suprascapular nerve
nerve to the subclavius
What does the supra scapular nerve innervate?
supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles
Where do the anterior divisions of the brachial plexus travel?
To the trunks of the anterior compartments of the upper extremity. Form the lateral and medial cords
Where do the posterior divisions of the brachial plexus travel?
The posterior compartments of the upper extremity. From the posterior cord
What are the direct branches of the lateral cord?
Lateral pectoral nerve
What does the lateral pectoral nerve innervate?
clavicular head of the pectoralis major muscle
What are the terminal nerves of the lateral cord?
Musculocutaneous and the lateral root of the median nerve
What are the direct branches of the medial cord?
Medial pectoral nerve
medial cutaneous nerve to the arm (brachium)
medial cutaneous nerve to the forearm (ante brachium)
What are the terminal branches of the medial cord?
ulnar
medial root of the median nerve
What does the medial pectoral nerve innervate?
sternal head of the pectoralis major and the pectoralis minor
What are the direct branches of the posterior cord?
Upper subscapular nerv
thoracodorsal nerve
lower subscapular nerve
