Are alkenes more or less reactive than alkanes?

More reactive
The double bond means they have a high e- density and so are easily attacked by elecrophiles

Why can’t the C=C bond rotate?
A
There is a p-orbital (containing a single e- ) on each carbon. These orbitals overlap to form an orbital with a cloud of e- density above and below the bonds to form a pi orbital
