Alexander the Great
The son of Phillip the Second who conquered the Persian Empire and defeated Darius the Third of Persia. He was more interested in expanding his empire than governing it.
Phillip the Second
The King of Macedonia, and father of Alexander the Great, who dreamed of taking over Persia but was murdered at his daughter’s wedding. He conquered Greece when Greece had a weakened military after the Peloponnesian War.
Macedonia
The Kingdom located north of Greece with a rough terrain and cold climate.
Darius the Third
The Persian king who tried to set up defense against Alexander but failed.
What happened after Alexander’s death?
The empire was then ruled by Antigonus, Ptolemy, and Seleucus, and a vibrant new culture emerged from the blend of Greek and Eastern customs.
