Al Qadr (Predestination)

What is predestination?

• God has set out a divine plan for every soul
• God is responsible for all things
• We can never know the reason behind the universe
• Islam teaches that all suffering should be viewed as opportunities to grow
• We all have freewill and we are not puppets or robots
• God gave us the ability to chose a path (straight path)

Sunni and Shi’a differences

• Sunni’s put more on predestination as everything is ordained by God
• Shi’a’s show there is more room for freewill and most reject the idea of predestination as God cannot be responsible for evil

• It shows submission to Allah as he has a master plan
• God holds us accountable for our actions
