Airspace Flashcards
Class B Airspace
Solid blue line. Busiest airspace. Controlled, must receive permission/waiver to film inside. Anything with SFC on up is Class B from the ground up.
Class C Airspace
Solid magenta line. Burbank, Providence RI, etc. Requires approval/waiver to fly inside. The letter T means that up to its top is the BOTTOM of Class B airspace. Typically has just one shelf.
Class D Airspace
Dashed blue line. Surface to 1500 feet. It’s a single cylinder.
Class E Airspace
Dashed magenta line. Normally starts at 700 or 1200 feet, so isn’t a problem to fly here. But sometimes does extend to SFC.
Class G Airspace
Majority of airspace in US. Does not require permission.
Solid blue line
Class B airspace. Upside-down wedding cake.
Dashed blue line
Class D airspace. Surface to 1500 feet.
Solid magenta line
Class C airspace. Typically a single layer. T means its top is bottom of Class B.
Dashed magenta line
Class E airspace. Typically doesn’t start until 700 or 1200 feet.
Restricted
Blue hash marks. Is either hot or cold. Must gain permission from military to use.
MOA (Military Operations Area)
Magenta hash marks. You can use. Call ahead to find out. Must exercise extreme caution.
Prohibited
Blue has marks with a P. Cannot enter. Closed to all air traffic.
Alert
You can fly into alert areas, just be aware of the caution.
Warning
W. Warns of an area of low control.
