Hot spot
•Hot spot is a location on an airport movement area with a history or potential risk of collision or runway incursion.
•Requires heightened awareness by pilots.
•Previously there were no standards for the shapes of hot spots.
•The FAA has now standardized them on charts.
•Circle or Ellipse: Ground Movement Hot Spot
•Cylinder: Wrong Surface Hot Spot
Approach lighting systems
•Visual Portion of the Instrument Approach
•Allows for pilot to descend bellow minimums to 100 feet above touchdown zone elevation.
•Unless the red side row bars are in sight
