Describe the indicator light auto bright system?

A

The system auto-matically overrides the DIM position on the Indicator Light Selector, if selected, and illuminates the indicator lights full bright for the following conditions:

  1. The ambient flight deck light level increases to a preset crossover light value, as detected by the autobright system sensors located on pilot’s center panel.
  2. Loss of equipment cooling air flow, as detected in the flight deck or in the forward E/E compartment.
  3. Equipment cooling air overheat, as detected in the flight deck or in the forward E/E com-partment or at the cooling air supply source.

A

This light illuminates when cabin altitude is above 10,000’ MSL, the Cargo Fire Depress Switch is depressed, or the EMER/02 Light Test Switch is depressed.

A

AUTO - If Cabin Altitude > 10,000’ Or Cargo Depressurization system activated:

Activates 20 second cycle of flashing main deck lights (alternating), lavatory dome light, entry lights and aural horn. Illuminates the USE OXYGEN Alert Lights.

RTS - Activates flashing lights ONLY for 20 seconds.

USE OXY - Activates 20 second cycle of flashing main deck lights (alternating), lavatory dome light, entry lights and aural horn. Illuminates the USE OXYGEN Alert Lights.

  2. Landing gear lever must be DOWN and the air/ground sensing system must indicate the landing gear trucks are not tilted for the door to operate.
  3. Left engine not running.
  4. Thrust levers to idle
