Aircraft Construction Flashcards
What should the fuselage have reguarding shape?
Smallest streamlined & aerodynamic form for desired capacity
What are the two truss type constructions?
Pratt or warren
In a pressurised fuselage what needs to happen after takeoff to allow for pressurisation?
Air needs to be pumped into fuselage
What are the requirements reguarding differential pressure on an aircraft?
Hold be regulated and maintained
What does pressurisation cause?
Causes stress and leads to metal fatigue
What type of sealants are used on aircraft’s and what do they prevent?
2 part polysulphides used that prevent moisture ingress
Where is sealant typically applied?
Along seams and skin joints
What sort of seals do windows and fittings have?
Manufactured seals and gaskets for easy replacement
What are the two types of seal?
Fraying & fillet seal
