Air Conditioning Panel Flashcards
When is pack flow automatically high regardless of the pack flow selector position?
When the APU is on
Pack Flow selector Lo, Norm, Hi positions?
Lo = 80% Norm = 100% Hi = 120%
What are the Zone Selectors (cockpit, FWD Cabin, AFT Cabin) hottest, coldest, noon settings?
100% Cold - 64degF / 18degC
100% Hot - 86degF / 30degC
Noon - 76degF / 24degC
Hot Air pb On, Off (2), Fault (2) positions
On lights out
Valve regulates the hot air pressure
Off white light
- Hot air valve and trim air valves close
- The Fault circuit is reset
Fault amber 1. Duct overheat - above 190degF 2. Fault light goes away when: A. Temp goes below 158degF or B. Crew switches the Hot Air pb off
X Bleed valve selector positions: Start Open, Shut, Auto
Start Open - the crossbleed valve is open
Shut - the crossbleed valve is closed
Auto
- X Bleed valve is open if the APU Bleed valve is open
- X Bleed valve is closed:
a. If the APU Bleed valve closed or
b. There is leak detected in the wing, pylon or APU (excluding engine start)
APU Bleed pb (2) On, Off & (2) Fault positions
On blue
- APU bleed valve opens if N>95% and no leak detected in the APU or left side bleed
- If the leak is on the right side, the cross bleed valve closes
Off lights out
the APU valve closes
Fault amber
- With ECAM
- When the system detects an APU leak
RAM Air guarded pb Off & On?
Off lights out
The RAM Air inlet closes
On in white
If Ditching pb is in the normal position:
A. The RAM Air inlet opens
B. If Delta P greater than or equal to 1 PSI, the outflow valve remains normal. No emergency ram air flows in
C. Delta P less than 1 PSI, the outflow valve opens about 50%, under automatic control. (The outflow valve does not open in manual control). Emergency ram airflow is directly supplied to the mixer unit
Eng 1/2 Bleed pb Off, On (5), Fault (4)?
Off white
The bleed valve and HP valve close
On Lights out
The bleed valve opens if:
A. Upstream pressure is above 8psi
B. No pylon leak, wing leak, overpressure or overheat is detected
C. APU BLEED pb is off
D. The engine fire pb has not been released
E. Engine start valve is closed
Fault in amber with ECAM if:
A. Eng Bleed air overheat
B. Eng Bleed valve is not closed:
B.1. during the start sequence
B.2. with the APU Bleed On
C. Wing or engine leak on the related side
D. The light goes off as soon as the Eng Bleed pb has been pushed to Off provide that the fault disappears
Pack pb Off, Fault (2), On (2)?
Pack valve during the engine start sequence (4)?
Off
the pack flow control valve closes
Fault amber
- Appears in amber with ECAM if the position disagrees with the selected position or
- There is a compressor outlet or pack outlet overheat
On 1. Pack flow valve is automatically controlled. 2. It will not open if: A. Upstream pressure drops below minimum B. Compressor outlet overheats C. Fire push button on the related engine is pushed D. Ditching is selected E. During the Engine Start sequence
- On the ground, there is a delay of 30 second during the 2nd engine start
- If the cross bleed valve is CLOSED, the valve on the starting engine side closes when the mode selector is set to ignition or crank
- If the cross bleed valve is OPEN at engine start, both valves close
- Remains closed on the starting engine side (provided the cross bleed valve is closed) when: Master Switch is set to ON (or MAN START pb is set to ON), the start valve is open, N2<50%
Which has the priority? APU Bleed or Engine Bleed?
APU Bleed
Which engine failure does closing the Crossbleed allow for protection against a bleed leak from the damaged engine?
If it is the right engine that fails.
Closing the Crossbleed allows us to use the APU Bleed for the left engine. No APU Bleed air will be directed to the right engine.
