- target wants to avoid harm

every frustration leads to aggression act and every aggressive act is a result of some past frustration
Aversive emotional arousal
Aversive emotion as the cause of aggression
- act out to eliminate negative emotions (sad, angry)

Learned through imagination or reinforcement
- bandura and bobo doll experiment
Targets of aggression
Gender: both are prone to aggressive behaviour but more prominent in men
Race: people are more likely to be more aggressive for someone in their own race
