Aeronautical Procedures Flashcards
What is in the AIPNZ VOL 1?
contains information pertaining to flight planning for VFR and IFR, various in-flight procedures, abbreviated rules, and abbreviations its best described as a planning and general information document.
What’s in the AIPNZ VOL 2 & 3?
Contains specific IFR procedures and approaches for various aerodromes for which an IFR approach is depicted
What’s in the AIPNZ VOL 4?
contains specific info for VFR operations including aerodrome plates and VFR arrival and departure times.
What’s in the AIP SUPPLEMENTS?
contains amendments to AIPNZ documents or information of a temporary nature. one of these is issued every 28 days and are issued to the subscriber. Pilots should read these supplements for changes in and around the airspace and retain a copy.

What’s a TRIGGER NOTAM?
NOTAM issued automatically and acts as a reminder that various supplements are effective.
before commencing a flight, a PIC must obtain and become familiar with all information concerning the flight including what? (CAR 91) (8)
- where practicable, current meteorological information
- fuel requirements
- alternatives available if the planned flight cannot be completed
- any known or likely traffic delays notified by ATS
- status of the communication and navigation facilities intended to be used
- current conditions the aerodrome and runway lengths at aerodromes of intended use
- any take-off or landing distance data contained in aircraft flight manual
- incase of aircraft powered by two or more engines: engine inoperative procedures, one engine inoperative performance data.
All NOTAM have what?
serial number. Two types ( A or B). Type A NOTAM pertains to within the NZFIR (NZ Flight Info Region) whereas Type B is issued and distributed domestically and internationally.
what do these two NOTAM examples represent?
A0906/09
NOTAMR A0906/09
A0906/09 = domestic NOTAM and the 0906 is a serial number with 09 meaning the issue date was 2009.

notices containing general info pertaining to air safety that would not otherwise be issued via NOTAM or be included in the NZAIP. They may contain information regarding, technical, administrative, or legislative manners.
What is a Navigation Chart?
issued for the safe operation of VFR and IFR aircraft containing tracks, airspace, and topographical information.
A PIC must not begin a flight under VFR unless, in the forecast weather conditions, the airplane has enough fuel to fly to the first point of intended landing at the planned cruising speed of normal, and to fly after that point of intended landing for at least how long?
further 30 minutes during the day or further 45 for the night
a PIC must submit a VFR flight plane to an appropriate ATS unit before starting and flight conducted under VF if what?
The PIC plans to proceed more than 50nm from the shore, and if the PIC requires an alerting service.
when else can a PIC submit a VFR flight plan?
any other flight conducted under VFR.
