Advanced TAC form (misc) Flashcards
Offensive combat spread position
1.2-1.5 NM abeam
+/- 3,000 ft off Lead’s altitude
How is a check turn in OCS different from DCS?
- The check turn is executed the same way
- Magnitude of corrections are greater due to larger down range travel
How is a tac turn in OCS different from DCS?
- Timing is different
- Wait until Lead is at the 5-7 o’clock position, instead of intakes on, to start the 14 unit pull
How is an in-place turn in OCS different from DCS?
There is no difference
How are shackles in OCS different from DCS?
- Longer timing is required after the pass, before reversing to the flow heading, to achieve the proper abeam distance
- Corrections in shackles are the same between DCS and OCS
How are cross-turn in OCS different from DCS?
Cross turns started from OCS will end up 1.0 NM abeam vice wider
What are the possible comm-out turns?
- Tac turns
- In-place turns
How is a comm out turn initiated?
- Lead will give an exaggerated wing flash in the direction of the turn
- When Lead’s wings are level, the turn will be initiated
If you are unable to discern which way Lead gave the wing flash, what should you assume?
- Tac turn away from you
- If you are wrong, just reverse to where you need be
Why do you not want to assume an uncalled turn is into you?
If you are wrong, you may go blind
In what direction may an uncalled in-place turn be performed?
Only away from wingman
In what direction may an uncalled tac-turn be performed?
Either away or into Wing
What type of turn should you assume uncalled turns away from Wing to be?
- Tac turns
- If you roll out and Lead keeps turning, turn it into an in-place turn
