adrenergic 3 Flashcards
1
Q
Milrinone mechanism
A
- PDE inhibitor
- augments myocyte Ca utilization,
- moderate peripheral vasodilation
2
Q
Milrinone indication
A
ADHF short-term management - “Cold & wet”
3
Q
Milrinone half life
A
1 hour, prolonged 2-3 hours if CrCl < 50 ml/min
4
Q
Milrinone is recommended if
A
if receiving a B-blocker.
5
Q
Milrinone side effects
A
- Hypotension,
- Thrombocytopenia,
- Tachycardia,
- Arrhythmias,
- Fever,
- Increased LFTs
6
Q
inotropic agents are indicated for pt with
A
advanced HF and low output sydrome (LV dilation, reduced, decrease end organ dysfucntion)
7
Q
inotropic agents are used to
A
- To relieve symptoms and improve end-organ function
- Patients with marginal systolic blood pressure (<90 mm Hg)
- Patients with symptomatic hypotension despite adequate filling pressure
- Unresponsive to, or intolerant of, intravenous vasodilators
8
Q
Dopamine mechanism
A
endogenous precursor of norepinephrine-
excerts its effects by directly stimulating adrenergic
receptors, as well as, release norepi from nerve
terminals
9
Q
Dopamine adverse effects
A
- arrythmia
- angina
- increased heart rate
- increased mean arterial pressure
- Increased systemic vasculature
