Adaptation to change Flashcards
Define interdependence
Living Organisms are dependent on other living organisms to live, grow and reproduce.
What would happen to the fox population if the rabbit population increased?
Increase
What would happen to the fox population if the rabbit population decreased?
decrease

What happens to the numbers of the predator when the prey numbers are high?
Increase
What happens to the numbers of the predator when the prey numbers are low?
decrease
Describe and explain a predator-prey graph
When the population of the prey increases, the population of the predator increases.
When the population of the prey decreases, the population of the predator decreases.
When the population of the prey is high, the population of the predator increases.
This makes the number of prey decrease, which makes the population of the predator decrease and the cycle starts again.
Define food webs
1- Food webs is a set of linked food chains
Define population
Population is the number of animals of the same type living in the same area,
State whether the following is environmental or competition:
The red squirrels are in decline in the UK.
Competition
Grass doesn’t grow well under trees.
competetion
Polar bear numbers are in decline.
Enviromental
Seven spotted ladybirds are on the increase in the UK.
Competetion
Wolves grow a thicker fur coat in the winter
