Acu 2 Kidney Channel Flashcards
Kidney meridian
Foot Shaoyang
Kidney is on duty
5-7pm
the kidney meridian connects with which organs
Kidney, bladder, liver, lung, heart, throat, tongue
abnormality in the meridian
hungry without desire to eat, dark dull facial complexion, cough with blood, dyspnea, blurred vision, forgetfulness, feels like heart is suspending in the air, not peaceful, kidney qi deficiency: easily scared, palpitations, feels like they are about to be captured, bone problems, cold bones, cold limbs, numbness,
the kidney meridian treats
kidney disease
what is “kidney” disease
mouth heat, dry tongue, sore throat, irritability, heart pain, jaundice, diarrhea, pain/weakness/cold along the course of the meridian, prefer to lie down, heat/pain in the sole
Meridian illness
headache, dizziness, blurred vision, sore throat, swollen throat, teeth pain, tinnitus, deafness, medial malleolus, swollen heel and heel pain, lower back, pain along the course of the meridian
zang fu illness
irregular menstruation, period pain, nocturnal emission, impotency, unsmooth urine, enuresis, borborygmus, diarrhea, edema, mental disorders, diabetes
chest, heart irritability, unpeaceful due to
rebellious qi in the kidney
constipation and unsmooth urine due to
excessive qi in the kidney luo collateral
lower back pain due to
deficiency qi in the kidney luo collateral
where does the kidney channel primary meridian originate
beneath the little toe
describe the kidney primary channel
from the little toe it crosses the sole of the foot, climbs up the leg, connects with SP6, continues to the thigh and intersects Du1, enters the spine, kidney, and bladder. Intersects the ren channel at Ren 3, 4, and 7.
describe the first branch of the kidney primary channel
the first branch emerges from the kidney, ascends through the liver and diaphragm, enters the lungs and throat, terminates at the rot of the tongue (LU/KD essence)
describe the second branch of the kidney primary channel
another branch separates from the lung, joins with the heart, disperses in the chest to link with the pericardium channel at Ren 17
where does the kidney divergent channel begin
in the popliteal fossa
describe the kidney divergent channel
separates at the popliteal fossa
connects with the bladder divergent channel, kidneys, and root of the tongue
emerges at the nape of the neck to converge with the bladder primary channel
where does the kidney luo channel begin
at KD4
describe the kidney luo channel
from KD4 it ascends, connects with the bladder channel, and spreads into the lumbar vertebrae
describe the kidney sinew channel
from beneath the little toe it joins the spleen sinew channel, connects with the bladder sinew channel, and binds with the genitals
describe the first branch of the kidney sinew channel
it travels internally to the spinal vertebra, ascends to the neck where it binds to the occipital bone and converges with the bladder sinew meridian
Pathological symptoms of the kidney sinew channel
cramping at the bottom of the foot, cramping and pain along the course of the channel, convulsion and spasm associated with epilepsy, if the disease is on the exterior/yang, the patient cannot bend forward, if the disease is on the interior/yin, the patient cannot bend backwards
what is the kidney paired with according to six channel theory
heart
the interior pathway of the kidney primary channel connects with the
bladder organ
