Active transport Flashcards
1
Q
how do root hair cells take in minerals
A
active transport
2
Q
what is active transport
A
the movement of ions or molecules across a cell membrane into a region of higher concentration, assisted by enzymes and requiring energy.
3
Q
how does active transport in the gut work
A
when there’s a higher concentration of glucose and amino acids in the gut they diffuse naturally into the blood
BUT when there’s a lower concentration of nutrients in the gut than in the blood it means that the gradient is going the wrong way
active transport allows nutrients to be taken to into the blood despite the concentration gradient going the wrong way
