Though the description of his master eating ans drinking it becomes clear that f has reached new lows in his corruption
- he’s hedonistic, ill of green and over indulgence
- f seems not interested in repentance but indulging in as much sensuality as possible before going to hell

  • again typical of morality plays
  • he represents god and Christian mercy
    -echos meth at the beginning
  • despair is a mortal sin in living deliberate and complete abandonment of all hope for salvation
  • he intentionally rejects the possibility of Gods mercy
  • not only cutting himself of from all hope of escape
  • he wilfully turns his back on god and reaffirms his bargain with lucifer and gives into his lust for Helen

-he wants to be immortal rather than with God
- indulges in earthy pleasures
-thinks she will provide Paradise
- in taking Helen for his paramour, he once again trivialises his power
- all his early grand aspirations have shrunk to the pursuit of sensuous self indulgent pleasure
- his despair is complete
