-F has much more intelligence and power than the money deceives
-And as a result, the practical joke feels like a cheap trick

-file just now threats over the waining days of his life and the doom that is pending
-He is still a man as he was but wanted to not be
-But now he is a man condemned to die
-He’s off worse no better than he was
-He becomes less and less closer to repentance
-He just distracts himself
-He tries to console himself with the story of the the thief last minute redemption as he hung across next to the crucified Jesus
-He thinks that Christ will forgive him right at the end
-Suggesting he’s distrusting what he’s
-He may now be depressed as his thoughts are betraying him
-It now switches to verse from prose

-what fails to understand is that he has similarly fallen into a trap set by Mephistopheles
-Early on the devil just as honestly and clearly explains the truth about hell and the horror of eternal torment
-F ruptured by his own size ambitions ignores this advice
-Just as the horse trader ignored F’s advice
