Signs or symptoms suggestive of cardiovascular, metabolic and renal disease
-angina like pain or discomfort
-shortness of breath at rest or with mild exertion
-dizziness or syncope (loss of conciousness)
-orthopnea (dysnpea occuring at rest or during sleep)

-palpitations or tachycardia
-intermittent claudication
-known heart murmur
-unusual fatigue or shortness of breath

-cigarette smoking
-physical inactivity

Risk factors age
-men over 45
-women over 55
Risk factors family history
-myocardial infarction
-coronary revascularlization
-or sudden death before 55 in father or 65 in mother
Risk factors cigarette smoking
-current smokers or those who quit in the previous 6 months
Risk factors physical activity
-not meeting minimum threshold of 500-1000 met/min of moderate to vigourous physical activity
How many min a week is equivalent to 500-100 MET-min
-75-150 of moderate to vigorous
Risk factors BMI and waist circumference
-men: BMI over 30 or waist over 102 cm
-women: BMI over 30 and waist over 88 cm
Risk factors blood pressure
-systolic over 130 mm Hg
-diastolic over 80 mm Hg
Risk factors lipids
-high cholesterol
Risk factors blood glucose
-fasting plasma glucose over 100 mg
When is medical clearance recommended in individuals who do not participate in regular exercise
-any signs or symptoms suggestive of CV, metabolic or renal disease
-known CV, metabolic, or renal disease
When is medical clearance not needed for individuals who do not participate in regular exercise
-no CV, metabolic or renal disease and no signs or symptoms of them
When is medical clearance needed for individuals who participate in regular exercise
-any signs or symptoms suggestive of CV, metabolic, or renal disease
When is medical clearance not necessary for individuals who have CV, metabolic, or renal disease and participate in regular exercise
-not needed for moderate intensity exercise
-need medical clearance within the last 12 months if no change in signs or symptoms for vigorous exercise
