Acquiring movement skills - Multi store model of memory Flashcards
What is Short term Sensory store?
This filters important information, unlimited information and 1 second storage. Selective memory allows this to pass on to Short term memory
Eg: Filter out the crowd and focus on ball.
What is Short term memory?
This chunks information/ info compared to long term memory. 30 second storage and 5-9 pieces of information. Encoding allows this to pass on to Long term memory eg. Access speed and height of ball, compare to previous catches in long term memory.
What is Long term memory?
This is information stored recognised and retrieved. This stores permanently and for unlimited time. Retrieval allows the performer to do the movement. E.g Info received matched recognised and retrieved
Link long term back to short term = perform catch.
