Absolute Block Working Flashcards
1
Q
When will Absolute Block Working be implemented?
A
- when track maintenance machines or vehicles are required to travel through the section
- A rail traffic movement fails to be detected by the signal control system
- Any other circumstance where is deemed necessary for the MTM chief engineer or MTM manager network safety such as consecutive signal failures with a section
2
Q
What is the object of Absolute Block Working?
A
- to prevent more than one rail traffic movement being in the section of track between the defined absolute block working limits at the same time
- to prevent a rail traffic movement from entering absolute block working limits whilst proceeding rail movement is occupying the defined limits concerned.
3
Q
Block signalling? How will the object be achieved?
A
Once the vehicle/train has entered the section, the signal must return the absolute signal to stop position and a block Command placed on the signal.
4
Q
What are the two types of Absolute Block Working?
A
- Controlled absolute signal
- Nominated clearance point
5
Q
What classes of signals are considered to be Absolute?
A
home, dwarf, disc
6
Q
How will Absolute Block Working be implemented on a Single Line section?
A
7
Q
What will happen if the train detection system fails?
A
