survival needs. These are the most important thing a person needs this oxygen, water, food, sleep, excretion/elimination, and freedom from pain. If you patients’ survival needs are not met, they will not concern themselves with any desire further up the pyramid.
Psychological needs
This includes safety and security of their body, family, property, employment, and health. These needs are about keeping us safe from harm. If a person does not feel safe, they will seek safety before attempting any higher needs.
Safe and Security needs
These needs include belonging, acceptance, and love among family, friends, and social groups, as well as sexual intimacy. If a person does not meet these needs, they may experience loneliness, anxiety, and even clinical depression.
Love and Belonging needs
These needs include self-esteem, confidence, achievement, and respect. Meeting these needs make a person feel valued and accepted by others. Low self-esteem results from imbalances during this stage.
Esteem needs
a person reaching his or her full potential. These needs include creativity, spiritually, and altruism.
SELF-ACTUALIZATION NEEDS
describes this level as the
desire to accomplish everything that one can, to become the most that one can be.
Self- actualization needs
Knowledge and understanding, curiosity, exploration, need for meaning and predictability.
Cognitive needs
Appreciation and search for beauty, balance, form, etc.
