ptosis
drooping of the upper lid.
entropion
inward turning of the lid margin. lower lashes, which are often invisible when turned inward, irritate the conjunctiva and cornea
ectropion
margin of lower lid is turned outward, exposing the palpebral conjunctiva. when the punctum of the lower lid turns outward, the eye no longer drains correctly, and tearing occurs.
lid retraction and exophthalmos
wide eyed stare suggests retracted eyelids. retracted lids and a lid lag =hyperthyroidism
exophthalmos: eyeball protudes foreward. bilateral=graves hyperthyroid.
xanthelasma
slightly raised, yellowish, well-circumscribes plaques that appear along the nsal portions of one or both eyelids. lipid disorders
