When are CC required to perform cabin equipment checks?
- When a new complement of cabin crew start duty
- After an aircraft has been left unattended by a crew for any period of time
- When individual cabin crew are replaced, only the new member needs to check their area.
If a passenger presents with balloons or fully inflated sporting equipment what must be done?
These should be partially deflated before boarding.
According to the CASA Instrument for operation with 3 Cabin Crew, how many people are required to be seated at exit rows?
Each overwing exit requires 2 able bodied passengers, if not seat as follows:
1 in Forward Overwing Seat A then F
1 in Aft Overwing Seat A then F
then fill the aisle seats after this.
When is a headcount required?
- When aircraft is at a standoff bay
- When requested by flight crew or ground staff
- A transit stop where pax remain onboard
Can an aircraft be delayed waiting for a PIL to be corrected?
No, the PIL is only a source of information, and does not need to be accurate. Do not delay departure for an incorrect PIL
What is the door opening procedure?
After hearing 2 thumbs from Ground Staff
- Visual check of thumbs up through window
- 2 Thumbs from inside and confirm door is disarmed
- Crack the door, then Ground Staff will do the remainder.
If Cabin crew report a toilet is flooding, what must be done?
Manual water supply shutoff valve must be rotated to OFF, which is located in the cabinet below the sink.
If Cabin crew report a loud suction noise coming from the toilets, what is this and what can be done?
This is most likely a flush valve sticking in the open position. A manual override handle is located at the base of the toilet.
If cabin crew report a disorderly or disruptive passenger in flight, what steps can be taken?
- Turn seatbelt sign on, with PA advising “All passengers be seated with seatbelts fastened”
- Refuse any further service of Alcohol
- If passenger is disruptive to passengers in the vicinity, consider alternate seating.
- Advise Port Company to be met by AFP officers and the airport duty manager.
- Immediately advise the OCC, and follow with report.
If a flight is delayed and meals have been loaded onboard, what timeframe is acceptable to serve meals?
- If there are no cooling facilities, 4 hours is acceptable, above this meals need to be offloaded.
- If meals have already been heated there is a maximum of 2hrs before these meals are unsafe.
- Shelf stable products are exempt from these times.
