A2: Characteristics Of Tissue Flashcards
4 types of Tissue
Epithelial
connective
muscle
nervous
Simple squamous Epithelium
Reduces friction and controls vessel permeability
Simple cuboidal Epithelium
Glands kidney portions and is used for limited protection
Simple columnar Epithelium
it can be located at the lining of the stomach
What are the three types of muscle tissue
1) Skeletal
2) Cardiac muscle tissue
3) Smooth muscle tissue
What is the nervous tissue
The nervous tissue makes up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves
What are the two types of nervous tissue cells?
1) Neurons
2) Neuroglia
What are neurons
A neuron consists in every cell body. Neurons cannot divide and need oxygen and glycogen to survive
What is neuroglia?
It is a non excitable glial cells. The glial cells continue throughout life unlike neurons
Name the few types of connective tissue
Adipose tissue cartilage blood(red, white blood cells) bone fibrous connective tissue loose connective tissue(under the skin )
