A1:Cells Flashcards
What are the features of nucleus’s
Largest organelle Controls the cell Contains genetic material has a cell membrane nucleolus
what does Regi stand for?
Respiration
Execration
Growth
irritability
mitochondria?
Looks like sausage
location for aerobic respiration
organelles?
organelles means small organs with specialised functions
Plasma membrane?
It is a selective barrier (selective permeability ) controls what goes in and out of the cell and has two layers
What is a zygote?
a single cell
What is cytoplasm?
Cyto -cell
Plasm-Material
It is a semi fluid more like gel and flows slowly it is the pace where most chemical reactions happens it stores sugars such glycogen and melanin
what is mitochondria?
Mitochondria is shaped like a sausage, It’s is the power house of the cell. It is used for aerobic respiration which where chemical energy is available in the cell
What are ribosomes?
Ribosomes can be found in small clusters of the cytoplasm where they make proteins in he cell. They can also be found on the outer surface of the nuclear envelope and the rough endoplasmic material.
What is a smooth and rough endoplasmic reticular?
The endoplasmic reticular is a extensive series of interconnecting membranous canals in the cytoplasm.
Smooth ER-It synthesis lipid and steroid hormones
Rough ER-studded ribosomes and the site of protein synthesis
What is Golgi apparatus?
It is a series of flattened fluid sacs, stacked like pancakes it exports and synthesis protein
What is lysosomes?
Lysosomes are small membranous vesicles that are pinched of the Golgi apparatus
What are centrioles?
Every animal like cell has two organelles called centrioles. centrioles are small set of microtubes arranged in a specific way. They are there to help cells divide such as mitosis or meiosis
Nuclear envelope?
A membrane similar to the plasma membrane but with tiny pores so that substances can pass between it and the cytoplasm surrounds the nucleus
Nucleolus?
Within the nucleus roughly spherical structure manufactures and assembles the components of ribosomes
