How to prepare a standard solution
1) Weigh solid on a balance and dissolve in a beaker of distilled water
2) transfer to volumetric flask and rinse traces left
3) Add distilled water until the bottom of the meniscus is on the mark
4) Invert to mix
Define strong acid
An acid that dissociates completely in solution
Define weak acid
An acid that dissociates partially in solution
Define alkali
A type of base which dissolves in water to form aqueous OH- ions
Define base
A compound that neutralises an acid to form a salt
Define salt
Product of a reaction in which the H+ ions in an acid are replaced by a metal or Ammonium ion
Define neutralisation
Reaction when an acid and a base react together to form a salt
Hydrochloric acid formula
HCl
Sulfuric acid formula
H2SO4
Nitric acid formula
