Therapy guidelines for personality disorders

A

+ Don’t usually seek treatment on their own
+ change happens slowly - large change is unrealistic
+ Difficult to form therapeutic relationship
+ suspicious and hostile
+ need sense of control – giving options helps compliance
+ groups force patient to interact appropriately – also makes visible their own behaviors
+ staff needs consistency and approach
