Why is the sudden intrusion of the poets significant?
It’s unexpected and it shows that the philosophical argument about the senses is in the cultural background. “even the poets” babble these things about the senses “continually”. “Babble” is a little ironic at the moment the poets agree with him. If even the poets are saying it, it must be so obvious!
